Il grande jazz internazionale ancora una volta si dà appuntamento negli spazi industriali delle OGR, grazie al piano di Jason Moran e alle sofisticate atmosfere di Chick Corea, per due concerti unici – rispettivamente il 7 e il 9 novembre – organizzati in collaborazione con JazzMI.

Jason Moran, pianista statunitense, è stato definito da Rolling Stone il “pensatore più provocatorio del jazz contemporaneo”. Dopo l’esordio negli anni Novanta, Moran si è fatto conoscere per lo slancio innovatore, tanto da essere definito il “futuro del jazz”. Legato al mondo dell’arte, ha affermato di trovare ispirazione nelle opere di Jean-Michel Basquiat, Egon Schiele (in particolare per il suo secondo album) e Robert Rauschenberg (legato al suo terzo lavoro discografico).
I suoi interessi spaziano dal design (suona esclusivamente su una sedia disegnata per lui dalla designer danere Susanne Forsgreen) all’insegnamento, dalle collaborazioni musicali (numerosissime e trasversali) alla danza fino all’arte moderna, tanto che le sue opere musicali sono nelle collezioni del MoMA e del Whitney Museum of American Art.

Chick Corea è una vera e propria icona della musica contemporanea. Il compositore e pianista statunitense di origini italiane vanta il maggior numero di nomination ai Grammy Awards, ben 63, di cui 22 vinti. Chick Corea è quello che si può definire un artista musicale “a tutto tondo”, capace di muoversi nella fusion jazz così come nell’avanguardia, nel bebop come nelle musiche per bambini. Nato nel 1941, oggi è più attivo, creativo e instancabile che mai, capace di reinventarsi continuamente attraverso la sua arte. Come lo ha definito il New York Times, è “un luminare, esuberante ed eternamente giovane.”

The international jazz scene is coming back to OGR thanks to Jason Moran and his piano solo and the sophisticated atmospheres of Chick Corea, with two concerts – respectively on 7th and 9th November – organized together with JazzMI.

The American pianist Jason Moran has been described by Rolling Stone as the “the most provocative thinker in current jazz.” Since his appearance on the music scene in the late 90s, Moran has established himself as a risk-taker and innovator and earned the reputation as “the future of jazz.” Frequently influenced by the wider world of art as his muse, Moran has found inspiration in edgy 20th century painters like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Egon Schiele (especially for his second album), and Robert Rauschenberg (linked to his third album). His interests range from design (he plays exclusively on a chair designed for him by Danish designer Susanne Forsgreen) to teaching, from musical collaborations (very numerous and transversal) to dance up to modern art, so much so that his musical works are in the collections of the MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Chick Corea: Solo Piano

Chick Corea is an icon of contemporary music. The American of Italian descent pianist and composer has the highest number of nomination at the Grammy Awards, 63, with 22 wins. He is an “all-round” artist, able to move from fusion jazz to avant-garde, from bebop to children music. Born in 1941, today he is more active than ever and continues to be an unstoppable creative spirit, reinventing himself everytime, through his art. As The New York Times has said, he is “a luminary, ebullient and eternally youthful.”
